Slipknot is a metal band from U.S. formed in Des Moines, Iowa. It consists of nine members, of which they currently: Sid Wilson, Joey Jordison, Donnie Steele, Chris Fehn, Jim Root, Craig Jones, Shawn Crahan, Mick Thomson and Corey Taylor. The lineup of the band remained unchanged from 1999 to 2010. Each member wears a mask distinct.

The band was formed in 1995 and underwent several line-up changes following the independent release of the album Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat. in 1996. Their self-titled debut album was released in 1999 and was succeeded by Iowa in 2001 and Vol 3: (The Subliminal Verses) in 2004. The August 25, 2008, the band released their fourth studio album, All Hope Is Gone, which debuted at No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard chart 200. The band also released four DVDs including Disasterpieces in 2002, which was certified quadruple platinum in the United States. Your latest DVD is (sic) those who were launching in U.S. theaters on 26/08/2010 but just going to the shops the next day. The band members say that this DVD was in honor of Paul Gray, as it was one of his last shows. The (sic) these was recorded in 2009 in the download festival and reached approximately 80 thousand spectators.


Em 24 de maio de 2010, a banda perdeu seu baixista Paul Gray. Paul foi encontrado morto em um quarto de hotel por overdose de morfina. A banda pronunciou-se no dia 25 de maio, um dia após sua morte, estavam lá presentes todos os membros da banda, além de Brenna (a mulher de Paul) e Tony Gray, irmão de Paul.
